Way to Go Yukoners! | Sunday, March 27, 2011
Give yourself a pat on the back...last night during Earth Hour, Yukoners reduced their energy consumption by about one megawatt. That's the equivalent of 10,000 100-watt light bulbs and that's up from last year, at which time we reduced consumption by .8 of a megawatt during Earth Hour.
Tell us what you did to save power last night and your name will go in a draw for a variety of energy-saving devices for your home. The deadline for entries is 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.

We flipped the breakers off for everything except the freezer and the boiler (oh yeah, and the answering machine ‘cause we didn’t want to go through the pain of setting it all up again). Then we read stories with the kids, lighting candles when daylight grew too dim.

After spending the day renovating in preparation for our Monday morning EcoEnergy Audit, we went to a birthday party where all power consuming devices were turned off (lights, music) and candles were lit, while we were blessed with the acoustical sounds of classical guitar with Nic Mah, ... that’s best without power

After a long day of playing outside in this gorgeous warm weather, we put the kids to sleep sans night lights and the husband and I chatted in our living room while the sun faded. Nothing exciting, but it sure was relaxing!
