A Mild Week | Monday, February 15, 2010
So far 2010's weather has been relatively mild for most areas of Yukon. That means we have had to use very little diesel over the last several weeks to supplement our hydro system. Nonetheless, we always encourage customers to treat electricity as the precious resource that it is and to use it responsibly and wisely. Here you'll find this week's expected power usage on our transmission line that serves much of the Southern and Central Yukon.
We have had suggestions from a few of you about ways of improving the readibility of this chart. We think your ideas are good ones and we are working to make your suggested changes. Stay tuned!

It’s Cold Out There! | Monday, December 21, 2009
With temperatures dipping down into the -30 range this week, Yukon Energy has been forced to burn some diesel to provide enough electricity for everyone. Our weekly energy consumption chart, found here, gives you an idea of the amount of diesel needed. While we encourage the wise use of electricity at any time, it's especially important during the peak hours (breakfast and dinner time) on very cold days. Some options include having short showers instead of baths, using timing devises when plugging in your vehicles, and waiting until off-peak times to run dishwashers or washers and dryers.
